Bunny housing is arguably the most important aspect of how a bunny is raised. Since our babies are raised in spacious pens with plenty of enrichment, we prefer them to be adopted into families that can treat them the same as they've always been treated - with plenty of TLC!

Pens and Enclosures

The best way to house your bunny is in a free-roam house, given that you've bunny-proofed your home and there are no threats to the bunny (small children, other animals, etc.) However, we understand you may prefer a spacious pen or enclosure for nighttime or while you're away, so here are our favorite options.

Cleanliness

Keeping your bunny's pen clean is a crucial part of owning a bunny. Clean pens equal happy bunnies (and happy families. Nobody enjoys cleaning an overflowing litterbox!) Everyday basics include spot cleaning any accidents or messes, thoroughly vacuuming or sweeping up, cleaning the water bowl or gravity waterer, and generally tidying the area. For litterboxes, the following process works best:

- Place a puppy pad in the bottom of your bunny's litterbox.

- Add a litter suited to your bunny's preferences. We use pelleted litter, as it is not dusty and absorbs both liquids and smells very well.

- Place the grate (if you have a grate) over the filled litterbox.

- Litterboxes should be emptied every 3 days at most. If they start to smell, they haven't been cleaned often enough.

Bunny Proofing

There are a few major steps to go through to bunny-proof your home.

1. Baseboard Protection

If you don't want your baseboards with nibble marks, consider purchasing baseboard protectors.

2. Cord Covers

Bunnies can be electrocuted by chewing on loose cords. For their safety, please use cord protectors or cord covers in any areas your bunny has access to.

3. Carpet Corners

Some bunnies, though not all, dig up the corners of your carpet. This is a less common issue but can still happen. Here are our favorite ways to cover corners and protect your carpets!

4. Soft Blankets or Grippy Mats

To protect hardwoods from scratches, or protect your carpet from being dug, you can get grippy mats and blankets for them to hop on!
